Prior to the 2024 Women’s Premier League (WPL) season, UP Warriorz has selected Sri Lankan captain Chamari Athapaththu to take Lauren Bell’s place, an England fast bowler.

The Women’s Premier League 2024 season has been postponed by English fast bowler Lauren Bell.

Chamari, one of the strongest hitters in the game, has played for Sri Lanka in more than 120 Twenty20 Internationals. The only woman from Sri Lanka to hit a century in Twenty20 Internationals is Athapaththu, who is renowned for her aggressive batting and skillful off-spin bowling.

UP Warriorz have named Sri Lanka skipper Chamari Athapaththu as a replacement for England fast-bowler Lauren Bell ahead of the 2024 season of the Women’s Premier League (WPL).

“English fast bowler Lauren Bell has withdrawn from the upcoming season of the Women’s Premier League 2024. UP Warriorz have named Sri Lanka’s Chamari Athapaththu as a replacement for Bell,” said a statement from the tournament on Friday, 26 January.
