1. Harmanpreet Kaur Big Bash League 2021

While playing for Sydney Thunder against Hobart Hurricanes in the Women’s Big Bash League 2017, Harmanpreet Kaur was charged with breaching Article 2.1.2 of Cricket Australia’s Code of Conduct. It is a Level 1 offense when cricket-related fixtures, equipment or clothing is used in an insulting manner in the context of the game.

The incident happened after Harmanpreet was out during Sydney Thunder’s batting. As per Code of Conduct procedure, match referee Roy Loh considered the umpire’s written report and reprimanded Harmanpreet for his conduct. There was no need for hearing because Harmanpreet had accepted the punishment.

2. Fake Degree Controversy

In 2011, Harmanpreet’s job application for Punjab Police was rejected by the Punjab government citing that there is no provision of any kind of police job for a female cricketer. Some police officers even made fun of him and said that it was Harman and not Harbhajan who should be appointed to the post of DSP.

Fortunately, in the next government, Chief Minister Amarinder Singh offered him the post of DSP in Punjab Police in the year 2018. Just four months after being appointed as DSP, Harmanpreet was removed from the post of DSP and demoted to a constable after her graduation degree was found to be fake.

However, Harmanpreet has always denied that her graduation degree is fake.
